Jackie La Fleur

Picture
Jackie LaFleur is a self-taught artist who was born in Kabwe, Zambia, as the youngest of three children. Having nomadic parents who wanted to see the world, Jackie lived in Africa, England, Australia, and New Zealand all before she finally ended up in the United States at the age of seventeen. Her family’s consistent relocation provided endless inspiration that is reflected in her art pieces.

After meeting and marrying her husband in Chicago, Illinois, Jackie moved to the Cayman Islands, BWI, where she and her husband lived and worked for three years. It was there that Jackie was first introduced to ceramics as a medium, and her creativity was able to thrive with the 3D ability of clay.  Since leaving the island, Jackie and her family have lived in Illinois, Arizona, Kansas, Arizona again, and now reside in Rocklin, California. Jackie, her husband, and their two daughters all currently live in Northern California.

Jackie has worked in several media throughout the years from ceramics, to watercolors, to acrylics/oils on canvas. She taught ceramics for eight years at Waubonsee Community College in Illinois. Jackie has done commissioned work for the Boy Scouts of America, McDonald’s Corporation, and the Cayman Island government.  Gallery showings have included locations in Geneva, Il, Sedona, AZ, Cayman Islands B.W.I., Nevada City, CA, and Davis, CA. Some of her work can currently be viewed in the gallery at Alpha Ceramics in Sacramento, California where she is now studying under the professional eyes of acclaimed sculptor Toni Natsoulas.
